Challenge – Insects and Spiders

The world of bugs is a fascinating one. It is certainly easier to photography these tiny animals if you have a macro lens, but you can achieve good results with extension tubes or a zoom lens. (Some extreme cropping and sharpening with Topaz SharpenAI can help too!)

How do we capture these fleeting moments? Perhaps it is a candid moment you’ve serendipitously captured with your camera, perhaps you’ve been in on a secret – like a surprise birthday party or marriage proposal, or perhaps it is staged. Either way, try to convey that emotion with your image.

The Yellow-Purple combination is the third of our challenges with Complementary Colours. These colours are opposite on the colour wheel, and the combination of warm yellow and cool purple is a vivid color combination.

Low key photographs are underlit images that feature dramatic contrast and dark colors. It can create a dramatic or mysterious image and enhances shapes texture. This technique is often used in portraiture and still life.
