Best Meteor Shower for 2018

ON 14 DECEMBER 2018, the Geminids meteor shower will light up the skies with one of the most spectacular displays of shooting stars to be viewed from Earth this year. Professor Alan Duffy, an astronomer at Swinburne University in Melbourne and lead scientist of the Royal Institute of Australia, said the Geminids will be “one of the best meteor showers of the year”, due to the sheer number of possible meteor sightings throughout the event. “At its peak, you will be able to see up to 120 shooting stars an hour – that’s two per minute!” Alan said. White Night AT The Soldiers Memorial Institute 9th November

White Night is returning to Bendigo with light projections to be shown on the Soldiers Memorial Institute Pall Mall. It will be operating on Friday & Saturday nights from 6:00. Not fully effective till dark. This is a late notice to members and to the rest of the Public. For those who missed the display it is well worth a look. Will Tainsh Accepts His Melbourne Zoo Award For His Entry “The Little Wattle Bird.”

After our Melbourne Zoo trip Will entered his image of the Little Wattle Bird in the zoo’s amateur photo competition and consequently his image was chosen, enlarged and displayed on the large rectangular displays near the main eating area (check out Will kneeling).
