Welcome to the June newsletter. The club had some enjoyable events and activities in May, getting in just before the lockdown. The highlight was the photo shoot at the club rooms with two very different models. Some fantastic photos were shared on the Friends of BCC Facebook page. By all reports it was a fun night which gave members a great chance to learn some new skills and brush up on old skills.

Judging night – Tuesday June 8th

This newsletter sees Victoria back in a Covid 19 restrictions which will impact on our June judging night. With limits on public gatherings the print/digital judging night will be conducted by Zoom. Most members will have been involved in the Zoom meetings in 2020. Graeme will send out a link to Zoom via email. If you need a hand to link in please feel free to contact a committee member. The set subject for the night is Rocks.

Entries will also be due for the 2nd AV competition of the year.

Activity night – Deep Sky Astrophotography presentation, Tuesday June 15

We have an exciting activity night planned for June. We will be joined by deep sky photography expert Ann Marie McComb who will present to the club. She will cover how she goes about her work. Closer to the date we will confirm how this event will go ahead as we become clearer about government restrictions.

Club social dinner – Tuesday June 22

As advised in last months newsletter the club social dinner is booked for Tuesday June 22 at the Tyson’s Reef Hotel. Our booking is for 6.30 pm and we are collecting names of club members who will attend. We will provide an opportunity for you to RSVP at the judging night on Tuesday if you haven’t done so already.

Bendigo Camera Club Annual General Meeting

The club AGM will be held on Tuesday July 20. We will be providing further details about the AGM soon.

Photography opportunities

We have some great photography opportunities coming up in the next couple of months, close and very close to home.

Winter Wonderlights – Sovereign Hill

The Winter Wonderlights event takes place at Sovereign Hill from Friday 25 June – 18 July. Members who have been say it is great opportunity for old time street scapes with locals in period costume and for winter scapes featuring snow and other winter delights.

Awaken – Bendigo brought to light

From Saturday 26th June to 17th July Bendigo will be lit up. The Awaken – Bendigo brought to light in Rosalind Park. The Bendigo events website says;

“Every night over the period of 26 June 2021 – 17 July 2021, Bendigo’s beautiful Rosalind Park will transform with a series of vibrant installations that engage and immerse visitors in an unforgettable sensory experience”.
