As we find ourselves entering the winter months in a very unusual year it is good to to see members continue to take opportunities to connect, take photos and share them across the variety of platforms the club uses. We have heard some very positive feedback about the attempts to keep members connected which Graeme recently shared by email. The latest opportunity for connection is the additional Cluster group for birders or those who just want to view the bird photography that members share. Graeme sent out an invitation to the new group during the week.

Club banner challenge

Members were invited to share panoramic photos that could represent the club and be used as a banner for social media and photo sharing platforms. The opportunity to submit your photos has now closed, however, voting remains open on Cluster. You can vote simply by adding a heart, or “liking” the photo you think is best suited for use on the banner. The committee will make the final determination to ensure the most popular photo meets the parameters.

June judging night – Tuesday June 9

The club will convene again via Zoom this coming Tuesday to hear the results of the June competition. The judge for the night will join us on Zoom sharing his comments on members photos. The set subject for June was Puddles.

Upcoming Zoom meetings

We have some upcoming Zoom club meetings that we just want to note, details to come. We will have the AGM in July via Zoom and also will set up a meeting to share the results of the VAPS 2020 EDPI and AV Interclub Competition. We will provide details for this once the results have been received. We will also connect for the July meeting on July 14. On that we will have the AV judging night and it will also be the due date for the August competition. A reminder that the set subject will be Morning Light, a chance for members to get out there on invigorating and brisk mornings.
