Welcome to the March 2020 Newsletter providing reminders about upcoming meetings, activities and events and a recap of some highlights from the February competition.

February competition

Congratulations to all winners from the February judging night. We had many entries and this newsletter features some winning photos: Photo of the night and the digital and print winners for the set subject.

The set subject was “Abstract” and many members were reminded by the judges comment about the definition of “Abstract”, this writer included! We did see some beautiful images and the winners for the set subject for the digital category was Coral Symons and for the print, Ian Priestly, both appearing below. The winner of the photo of the night was Ron Price with his beautiful “Golden-headed Cisticola”, also appearing below. Congratulations to these winners.

March 10 – first AV judging night for the year

We will meet next Tuesday for the first AV judging night for the year. This is also the due date for the 2nd Print/Digital competition of the year.  Set subject is “Self Portrait &/or Crowds”. We will also screen some videos featuring astro-photography by Richard Tatti.

March 17 – Activity night

Tonight we will view the photos created by members inspired by works of art. See the Camera Club website for the details about this activity, there is a direct link below. This is a chance to get creative and perhaps explore a photographic skill or approach.

We will also run a sensor cleaning workshop. If you want to actively participate in this bring your camera with you.

March 24 – club social dinner

Our first club social dinner will be at the Belmont Hotel at 17 Skene St, Kennington. We will continue collecting names at the upcoming meeting and activity night. We have quite a bit of interest already so it looks like it will be a good night.

Sunday April 5 – Club trip to Benalla

The club is running a trip to Benalla for the street art Wall to Wall festival. There is a cost of $10 per member to cover bus costs. This will be collected as you board the bus. Having attended this festival myself it is a fun day out, you will see the artists in action, creating their huge pieces and also have the chance to view art from previous years.

We will meet at the clubrooms at 8.15 a.m. for a departure at 8.30 a.m. We will leave Benalla in the mid afternoon and aim to be back in Bendigo around 5.30 p.m. or thereabouts. We are still collecting names for this trip.

Friday April 10 – Easter Fair Photographic Exhibition, 3 day event

Our Easter Fair Photographic Exhibition will be at Dudley House starting on Friday April 10, Good Friday.  Details about entries are posted on the Submit Entry page of the website. The cut-off date is March 24. We will start collecting volunteer names at the March 10 meeting.
