The Proposed Activities
There is a specific kind of magic that settles over Hobart in September. As the winter chill begins to lift, the city transforms into a playground of soft spring light and deep, moody shadows. For the Bendigo Camera Club, this trip isn’t just about ticking off landmarks; it’s about capturing the soul of the “Apple Isle” in its most transformative season.
Whether you’re framing the bobbing masts of the waterfront at dawn, chasing the play of light across heritage sandstone, or waiting for the clouds to break over the Derwent, Hobart offers a masterclass in atmosphere. We’ve designed this week to focus on the art of being present—slowing down to notice the macro details of blooming botanic gardens and the sweeping drama of the southern sky.

Birding Opportunities
Tasmania is a dream destination for bird photography, especially if you’re keen to see endemics like the Forty-spotted Pardalote, Yellow Wattlebird, Green Rosella and Black Currawong. If you find yourself more drawn to birds than coastal landscapes and would like to join a few bird-focused side outings during the Camera Club’s September 2026 trip, Brian Bird would love to connect and see about getting a few people together to focus on bird photography.
