A door is an everyday thing, yet is often a symbol — of a beginning, a journey forward or inward, a mark of one’s home, or even a step into the unknown.

Doors make such great photographic subjects on their own. Here are some things you could consider:

  • Look for clean lines and strong symmetry
  • Enhance the vibrance of a colourful door or change to black and white to emphasise shape and texture
  • Photograph with a person for interest
  • Create a composition that tells a story
