As VAPS has changed the specifications for the submission of photos for their annual competitions we are passing this on to you and will also take the opportunity to remind you of the best practice for entering prints and digital photos.

Print Entries

A video on mounting your photo on a mat with a backing board:

You do NOT need to tape your photo all the way around. One or two pieces of tape at the top of the photo is enough to fix it in place and will allow it to hang so it will not buckle.

Matts

We periodically place an order for mats from The Mat Cutting Company .

2018 prices were as follows (for an order of at least 25):

  • 12″x16″ for A4 prints (2″ margin): Mats $3.31, Backing $2.26
  • 16″x20″ for A3 prints (2″ margin): Mats $4.79, Backing $3.78
  • other sizes available

Actual window shape and size can be adjusted to suit your requirements.

See Graeme if you wish to place an order

Backing Board

The backing can be thin board (3mm or less) or cartridge paper.

Tape all the way around to secure your backing to your mat. Images that are not securely matted, falling apart or have loose tape on the back that may damage other prints will be rejected and not judged.

Labelling your print

Remember to write the following on the top left corner of the backing:

  • Member number
  • Category (Open/Set Subject/Monochrome)
  • Image Title
  • Date of Competition eg April 2020
