Trish Dannals has retired as one of the Bendigo Camera Club’s Lake Weeroona Pavilion Committee members and we need a replacement. You can talk to Trish or Val and ask them what is required.<\/p>\n

Sunday 13 February 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lavender Harvest Festival is again on starting at 10:00am with a cost of $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for school aged children.\u00a0 The address is 350 Hepburn-Newstead Road, Shepherds Flat which is just 10 minutes north of Daylesford. \u00a0 Their web address is HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tuesday 15th January 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As you are aware the web site is now open for entries which are due next Tuesday, 15th of January.\u00a0 The Set Subject is Australiana.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will also be a workshop on Macro\/Close-Up and Focus Stacking Photography.\u00a0 This is related to the next Competition Set Subject which is “Close Up Macro”<\/p>\n

Please bring along your Camera, Tripod and Macro Lens and Extension Tubes if you have them.\u00a0 The club will provide lights.<\/p>\n

ALSO club annual membership fees are due.\u00a0 As you will all be aware that costs always keep rising and so the fee membership has also risen to $50.00 per member.\u00a0 This is the first fee increase in many years.\u00a0 One of the reasons for the increase is the fact that there will be more bus trips planned during 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 22 January 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Tonight’s Activity will be to “Make a photo out of a given item”.<\/p>\n

That is, a number of different items will be provided (matches, straws etc.) and you will be asked to create a photographic image out of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday 26 January 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NB – The Lake Weeroona Australia Day Event is being held on Saturday and NOT on the Public Holiday which is Monday.<\/p>\n

This is an important day for the club as this is when we raise funds from the sale of drinks.\u00a0 Any funds raised therefore helps keep fees low. So volunteers are required commencing at 9:00 am on the 26th to set up display boards for members to display their prints AND to sell drinks.\u00a0 Members can bring along up to 10 prints each.\u00a0 Assistance will also be required later in the day (maybe 3:00 to 4:00pm) to pack up and clean up the club rooms.<\/p>\n

Saturday 23 February 2019<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The club will be organising a Bus Trip to photograph the street of Melbourne.\u00a0 More details to follow closer to the event.<\/p>\n

Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom<\/strong><\/span>
\nA friend of mine (not in the Camera Club) recently received the following warning from Adobe, possibly just after a Windows 10 update.<\/p>\n

She noted that the window would not close and that the only way to remove it was to click on the \u201cLEARN MORE\u201d button at the bottom of the window.\u00a0 Once in the Adobe web site this is what she found.<\/p>\n

\"\" \u00a0 Note the Phone number and the ID No quoted by Adobe – 7K1Z5ZISQY<\/span><\/p>\n

The Adobe web site talked about illegal software AND included a section stating that in future not all features of her illegal copy of Photoshop would work. She has already noticed this.\u00a0 Adobe then said that she could buy Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC for US$10.00 per month or A$14.29 per month. This works out to $171.48 per annum or $1,714.80 over ten years which horrified her.
\nWe then looked at some cheaper but simular options for her.
\nThe one that she liked was AFFINITY PHOTO which cost her A$62.99 (on special) was A$79.99.
\nOnce we loaded it onto her PC we then decided to Google free Affinity Photo Tutorials.
\nThe tutorials proved that Affinity Photo has virtually the same features as Photoshop.<\/p>\n

We the uninstalled Photoshop and Lightroom.<\/p>\n

Want to receive notifications about adhoc photo activities\u00a0that members are doing?\u00a0Will Tainsh (the clubs new Secretary) is setting up a Facebook group that you can join. Members of the group\u00a0will post notifications there about birding trips, or trips to festivals such as the Echuca Steam Rally or local sporting events that other members might like to participate in.<\/p>\n
